A little about Maui Gay Wedding History and what it means for us now
Being gay comes with many roles and responsibilities. Among them, we can be Professionals, Moms, Dads, Wives, Husbands and Best Friends. Being gay shouldn’t take away from those opportunities. Gay marriage is a blessing to gay families everywhere. For some couples, gay marriage comes after being together 20, 30 or even 40 years. To other younger gay couples, it is their inherent right as it was established before they became of legal marrying age. Either way, gay marriage should be celebrated and here on Maui, we do just that!
My partner and I were blessed with the opportunity to be married years ago when the States began allowing same sex marriage. We are now raising my daughter together as a family. We were fortunate at the time to not get any hassle from the Social Security Office when my wife went in to change her last name. The three of us now all share the same family name which helps with the feeling of unity that heterosexual couples have always been able to enjoy.
Maui Gay Weddings is now a right!
Hawaii is now among the states that allow marriage between same sex couples. We originally had our Maui ceremony prior to the civil union ruling or the marriage ruling. At the time it was simply our beautiful celebration of our commitment before our loved ones both to each other and to our family unit. The feeling was powerful with the Pacific Ocean as our backdrop and the sun dipping into the horizon as we said our vows to each other.
Being a same sex couple ourselves, we bring a feeling of familiarity and comfort to our your Maui gay weddings. Couples have the opportunity of working with a gay wedding planner that can customize the ceremony because we believe a “canned ceremony” doesn’t represent why you’re making this commitment to each other.
The ceremony should be beautiful, intimate and meaningful – just like the relationship itself. We use a passionate photography team. They offer pre-ceremony “engagement” pictures with waterfalls or in fields of beautiful sunflowers, ceremony coverage and fun, energetic trash-the-dress shoots which provides the intimate couples portraits, memories of the ceremony as well as fun-loving, engaging portraits. Working with same sex couples, we offer them the opportunity to feel at ease in their photos and the opportunity to embrace each other with all the passion that heterosexual couples enjoy.
There are many Destination Wedding Locations. There are many gay-friendly Ministers and Officiants. There are many Maui Wedding Photographers. We take pride in the quality of your overall ceremony experience – from start to finish your relationship should be celebrated. GLBT Weddings on Maui should be as personal and romantic as you want it to be and our personal touch will ensure that you have your dream wedding in Maui.
