Things to do in Maui – January 16-26

Don’t forget that Thursday’s are KABOOM!! Part nights at Casanovas in Makawao. Every Thursday night is Reggae Thursday with DJs creating a dance atmosphere from 9:30-1:30. $5 before 10am and $10 after – come check out the Reggae Fun!

This Friday it’ll be up in Makawao celebrating its theme of “Makawao Gets Fit & Healthy” and next Friday it’ll be back down in Kihei continuing its celebration of “Kihei Makahiki” Both parties run 6-9pm.  More information can be found at mauifridays.com

With so many things to do in Maui, how about something special for our youth? This Friday, January 17th, the Boys and Girls Club is sponsoring a dance for youth ages 9-17 from 7pm to 10pm at the Eddie Tam Gym in Makawao featuring music by the Chilltown Productions. Registration begins at 6pm and cost is a $4 donation.

Want to give something back to the land of Maui? How about participating in the Haleakla Service Trip this weekend? Hike into the crater with a team and spend a few days caring for the land under guidance – you need to be able to trek in your own sleeping bag, personal items and share of food. The nights will be spent at Paliku Cabin… January 19-21 – why not spend them in a crater? Call 808-264-4757 for more information.

Sunday, January 20th – one of the best things to do in Maui – The Maui Oceanfront Marathon! Start ini Wailea and end up in Lahaina. Enoy fabulous views along the way but don’t get distracted by the whales spouting! Visit their website for more information.

Next Monday will be incredible – don’t miss Castle Theater’s New Shanghai Circus! These Chinese Acrobats are amazing! There will be 2 shows on Monday and 1 on Tuesday. Go to their website to learn more! Hope to see you there!

January 25th provides  another fun thing to do in Maui – the monthly Hawaiian Moonlight Concert at the Bailey House Museum in Wailuku. Bring your blanket or low back chairs and enjoy an evening of Hawaiian music under the moon and stars. Show starts at 6pm and goes until 9pm. Tickets are $15 for members and $25 for non-members.

There are some great things to do in Maui this week that you won’t want to miss!

 

What to do in LahainaTuesday and Wednesday this week, January 8th and 9th at the Lahaina Cannery Mall they will be offering FREE Polynesian shows at 7pm by the Pineapple Food Court. Come check it out!

On Wed, Jan 9th at the Napili Kai Beach Resort pavilion the Masters of Hawaiian Music Series will be happening featuring musicians from the 22 Grammy winning album, “Masters of Hawaiian slack Key Guitar Concert Series” Show starts at 7:30. Call 808-669-3858 for more information.

There’s more FREE entertainment happening on Thursday, January 10 at the Center Stage- Whaler’s Village in Kaanapali. Check out the Polynesian hula, keiki hula and Tahitian dance displays from 7-8pm.

For those on the South Side this week, don’t miss the Wailea Sand Sculpture Competition on Friday, January 10th, open to all ages, residents and visitors alike. Local artists Riki and Tom Inzano will be offering advice and guidance based on their years of experience creating amazing sand sculptures. Sand Sculpture Event starts at 10 am. This Friday night, January 10th, Lahaina is offering a number of free events –the Lahaina Art Night from 7-10pm along Front Street with artists displaying their work and some stores offering drinks and pupus as well as the Lahaina Second Friday Town Party from 6-9 pm with 8 choices of live entertainment and even more choices of food! Come join the fun!
