Wedding trends for 2016 Maui beach weddings

Beaches_smMaui beach wedding and reception trends for 2016 parallel much of what is happening in the wedding world on the Mainland USA, with a few wonderful highlights. Just because you’re having a destination wedding, does not mean you are limited with the fun you can have! Live it up because, after all, this is YOUR big day!

Our top 10 wedding trends for 2016!

1. With years of social media influence and instant gratification for information, couples have been entering into that “too much information” era. Celebrity highlights, staged magazine compositions and personal desires have become convoluted. The 2016 educated couple is putting the breaks on and demanding to be heard rather than herded, like in years past. They want their personalities to come thru without the over-the-top fanfare. Simply put, they are looking for streamlined elegance with the essence of them. They want to describe their vision and let the planner pull it together within their budget. A Planner’s dream!

Vintage Hawaiian Wedding2. Top 2 Maui beach wedding reception trend themes for 2016 are in extreme contrasts to each other.

The elegant White Reception is back! Picture in your mind the white lights, white linens, white flowers, hints of earthy airy greens… The stepping off of the beach and into a fairytale. The surrounding terrain of gorgeous colors on Maui becomes the background for this upscale, elegant classic approach. A perfect balance of beach romance and affordable charm.

The Vintage Hawaiian reception is hot on its tail. With the focus being on family values, the human connection and the relaxing aloha found in the Islands, the Vintage theme encourages your guests to engage with one another, to let their guards down and really have a good time. Bringing the native culture into the wedding and reception elevates a destination wedding to a truly remarkable themed celebration.

Maui wedding receptions3. Giving the champagne toast an uplift! Use designer champagnes and locally grown fruits to transform your traditional champagne toast into an elevated signature cocktail. Whether the choice is to offer champagne in the colors of your wedding reception or to create a personalized, signature drink – there are amazing mixologists on Maui to help your reception stand out and become more memorable. Every moment of your Maui wedding reception counts!

Maui wedding favors4. Offering wedding favors that highlight local favorites: local brew samplers, local sweets or cookies… Offering your guests a taste of local aloha not only saves you the shipping from home, but also allows you to share something you’ve enjoyed- something near & dear to your hearts. Try providing personalized shot glasses with your favorite liquor or woven palm baskets filled with goodies for your guests. Favors will be useful and memorable so guests will want to try them and keep them. Consider favors with an island or beach theme to tie into your Maui beach wedding reception.

Maui weddings Cakes5. Offering tasting stations at your reception continues to trend into 2016. Whether it be your favorite Maui Brews, a Smore’s Station or a fresh Maui Seafood Station, these stations fulfill two purposes. They not only allow you to express your personalities, but also give your guests something to do and engage in while you two are having your pictures taken. Let’s say for example, that one of your favorite pastimes as a couple is to tailgate at sporting events. Why not offer a mini brew and sliders station as one of your appetizers?

Maui offers a number of creative station ideas – and they don’t all have to be food related. How about a station to learn to make leis? Or a station with a native wood carver that can chisel your guests names onto the wooden favors you’ve pre-arranged for them? Getting creative is all the trend for 2016!

Maui Weddings Locations6. The Pantone Color Institute has announced the 2016 color trends and they embody what couples are looking for in their Maui beach wedding and receptions. Aiming for that laid back relaxing ambiance, they suggest more calming, softer color palettes that serve as “vehicles that transport wearers to more tranquil, mindful environs which encourage relaxation first, followed by curiosity and exploration.” The perfect statement about you, your love and your future dreams together. Colors including Rose Quartz, Peach Echo and Snorkel Blue are highlighted to make your Maui wedding reception an extension of the beautiful beaches, skies and ocean that surround your perfect day.

Maui weddings rings7. Engagement rings have always had a hint of influence by celebrities. What 2015 taught us was original, personality driven ring art is taking center stage for 2016. What does that mean for the rest of us? It means your rings should reflect you both as individuals. In actuality, the 2016 trend is to not follow a trend at all. Allow your ring to speak for you personally. Koa wood and tungsten rings remain a popular favorite for men with each ring being unique in the placement and grain of the wood inlay. Women are selecting rings with additional colored stones, antique settings or simple brilliance all in accordance with their personalities.

Maui beach wedding venues8. Classic wedding etiquette is back! Especially in the purposeful way of paying attention to the particulars for the guests attending your Maui beach wedding. This is the thoughtful way of showing your guests that have traveled thousands of miles that you appreciate them. Allowing someone special the honor of giving you away is a tender moment that is resurfacing. Asking someone who influenced your life to have that special dance at the reception is a great way to honor that relationship.

Wedding party gifts that are selected special are a great way to say thank you. Offering chilled water or fans to your guests on the beach before your wedding is a huge hit! Presenting your guests a lei at the start of your ceremony gives you at least 30 seconds of one-on-one time with each guest so they feel special and reinforces that you are happy they’re present for your special day. All these ideas are things your Planner can arrange for you. The goal is to celebrate your love and new path with a group of excited friends and family.

Maui Flower Circle9. Maui beach wedding ceremony flowers are often undervalued as an unnecessary expense. Keep in mind those flowers tie in your wedding colors throughout your pictures which will in turn create your memory highlights. The trend for 2016 continues from 2015 in the concept of dual purpose flowers. Flowers that begin as bouquets at your Maui beach wedding and transform into table arrangements for your card table or tasting stations. Ginger paths can be reused at the entrance to your reception. Ask your Planner for more ideas with your florals!

10. After parties are all the rage for 2016! In fact we’ve seen it ramping up since October of this year. Who wants the party to end at 10? Maui doesn’t offer nightclubs like big city folks are used to, but your Planner can certainly arrange an after party in your honor… So when 10:00 rolls around, give big hugs to the little ones, lovingly escort your elders to their cars… And let the adult after party begin! This is a great time for women to slip into fun, flirtatious outfits so as to no longer need to maneuver in the big wedding gown. It’s time to let the hair down and party into the wee hours.

my wedding in mauiWhile 2015 was an amazing beach wedding year on Maui, 2016 is anticipated to bring about more unique Maui beach wedding and reception ideas. Whether you are seeking that intimate moment for 2 on the beach or the affordable Maui beach wedding and reception combination, we at Aloha Maui Dream Weddings are here to help make it special and memorable. Mahalo to all the 2015 couples that chose Maui as their destination wedding location and a special congratulations to all the future brides and grooms.

MAMUA KA ‘IKE, MAHOPE KA ‘IKE

Maui Weddings for 2015

2015 is upon us and it seems to be the year for Maui Weddings!

As with most destination weddings, many trends change each year but many will remain the same.

Maui Weddings 2015

Vintage Hawaiian WeddingAs we began planning their upcoming 2015 Maui weddings, we’re hearing from many brides that they want classic, vintage Hawaiian Maui Weddings and Receptions. Their receptions will entail beautiful craftsmanship and style. Centerpieces, cakes and ambiance will transport them back in time to the early Hawaiian days. But even if you’re looking for only a Maui beach wedding, you too can incorporate that Old Hawaiian charm into your ceremony. Include professional hula dancers, ukulele players, and Hawaiian singers. Why not arrive to their ceremony in a traditional Hawaiian outrigger canoe, complete with Kine escorts?

Hawaiian wedding ceremoniesCheck out our “Ho’olaule’a” Native Hawaiian Beach Ceremony here. You can have the most detailed, beautiful, vintage Hawaiian Maui Wedding Ceremony for less than you may think! Enjoy a full Native Hawaiian wedding with Reception or the vintage Hawaiian ceremony that will have all your friends talking for years to come!

Maui weddings2014 Maui weddings held onto that romantic charm of the wedding dress train. The flowing fabric over the pristine sand and contrasting against the black lava rock was absolutely stunning! This trend seems to be continuing into 2015. I would estimate that maybe half of the almost 200 weddings we witnessed in 2014 included a long train. Long, as in, 2-3 feet, not cathedral length. With a cathedral length train, you are asking for problems as you manipulate the beautiful ocean side terrain.

Maui Wedding HeelsThat being said, let’s talk shoes. There are some gorgeous bridal heels available and some adorable enhancements like these wonderful “I Do” adhesives. These are great for your reception or venue weddings but are not recommended for your Maui weddings on the beach.  Keep that in mind when you are having your dress altered.

Maui Beach Wedding HeelsThe hem needs to be set so that it can accommodate your flats or bare feet on the beach while not looking too short for the height of heels you select for your reception. If you’re planning a Maui Beach Wedding, take advantage of the wonderful feel of sand between your toes…

Maui Weddings LocationsMaui Weddings Ambiance… For 2015 we have started getting more and more requests for receptions with a spectacular view. This is in contrast to being directly on an over-populated beach. This was an exciting change from 2014. Maui offers some amazing and affordable reception venues that most people don’t stop to think about. Partner an affordable, gorgeous venue with your own vision of your Maui wedding on the beach. This will  allow you to have your vision of elegance and still have room in your budget. Work with one of our creative wedding designers to build your dream wedding. Check out the website of amazing Maui Wedding Photographer, Penny Palmer Photography, for more ideas.

Maui wedding flowersFlowers continue to be a big deal for 2015 Maui weddings.  We can get very creative with you for your floral arrangements. We help you design the ambiance on the beach, your bouquet, and your amazing reception details. Brides on a budget can be very creative and actually use their bouquet as the head table arrangement, or the flowers on the bamboo arch for the reception banquet table. Flower girls can decorate your ceremony path without paying twice for flowers. There are many ways to be creative and really make your ceremony and reception outstanding!

Maui weddings cakes2015 couples are being encouraged to evaluate the relative importance of each portion of their wedding budgets before diving in. We work with you through the process to ensure that your wedding day exceeds your visions.  We will make sure that we keep you focused on each portion that means the most to you – whether that’s photography and floral esthetics  or the culinary delights for the foodies in your group. We will recommend menus, caterers, and bakers that will go to the ends of the island to ensure your day is picture-perfect.

2015 couples are being more realistic with their wedding budgets… that said, it shouldn’t mean that you HAVE to spend a higher dollar amount for your vision. We do a lot of volunteer work on the island of Maui and with the vendor connections we’ve made, we pass that savings al9ng to each of you.  We create your vision and take all the stress away from you. Enjoy your dream wedding – no one will know how affordable it was unless you tell them.

Looking to upscale your Maui Weddings? Check out our on-island expert in wedding fashion – Elly’s Formalwear located in the Sugar Beach Resort. The local staff will make sure you have everything that you need in a timely, thoughtful manner.  For pressing needs, we recommend Ali’i Dry Cleaners with shops in both Kihei and Lahaina. The owner has made many dozens of our brides and grooms happy with prompt service and excellent quality. Call ahead to either place to let them know you’ll be stopping by. The best Maui weddings happen with the best planning. Trust Aloha Maui Dream Weddings (AMDW) and our recommended vendors & venues to make your dream wedding come true.

Beach Wedding Packages Hawaii

Congratulations, you’re engaged! Now you’re searching for the best beach wedding packages Hawaii. You’ve researched all the islands and have decided on the best fit for you with many choices of relaxing beaches, great restaurants, amazing snorkeling, beautiful rainforests and great wedding locations.

So you’re considering a Maui wedding for your beach wedding packages Hawaii? Good choice!

Maui weddings are absolutely amazing.  Not only do you have the best backdrop for your ceremony, but also you have some nice choices for reception venues. Whether you’re doing this on a grand scale and renting out one of my favorite spots, like the Palm Court at the Fairmont Hotel Kealani, or you’re keeping it intimate with a small buffet table on an exclusive lanai of a beautiful restaurant… either way, you’ve chosen the correct island for your beach wedding packages in Hawaii. Don’t, however, be misled by stunning pictures of deserted beaches and lush greenery… know how to pick the right beach with the right help to achieve your vision.

beach wedding packages Hawaii

Combining your Maui wedding and your Maui Honeymoon keep costs lower and enhance your entire wedding experience.

Many people select their beach wedding packages Hawaii based on where they’re staying on the island. That’s fine, but keep in mind that there are fewer choices for acceptable wedding beaches on the West Side of Maui. Because of that reason, if you select a West Side Maui wedding beach, expect there to be more visitors enjoying their beach time on the same beach as your wedding. Many couples are surprised when they show up for their wedding and find that they’ve selected a very popular time or place for beach goers. Ask us about private venues that you can rent to stay in and have your wedding and reception there as well.

Maui Beach Weddings

Working with a Maui wedding planner, such as ourselves, that keeps an eye on the beach trends is in your favor. Being flexible with your beach location is another great way to enhance your wedding ceremony experience. We take into consideration the sun table, tide table and current popularity of all the beaches we use for weddings.

Having a Maui wedding on Ka’anapali Beach is no longer an option since the State of Hawaii has banned commercial activity on the beach; however there are beautiful alternatives. If you feel like taking a small hike, check out Ironwood Beach – recommended for early morning weddings. We offer beach wedding packages Hawaii here.

One of the most popular wedding beaches on the West Side is Kapalua Bay. Being popular does not mean it is the most ideal Maui wedding beach. Being popular just means that many people select it for their wedding or honeymoon pictures location. Read into this “popular=often times busy”.

Pastor Bob Maui

Decide how you want to remember your wedding – intimate or with lots of onlookers. The choice is yours.

Now consider the South Side…Whether or not you are staying on the South Side of Maui, you really should consider having your ceremony on the South Side. Imagine walking on the softest imaginable sand… surrounded by beautiful tropical trees, groupings of lava rocks protruding from the sandy beaches. Most importantly, enough beaches to accommodate beach goers and ceremonies alike!

Makena Cove Secret Beach

Good planning can help create magical intimate moments…

Many brides and grooms are drawn to the magical legends surrounding the beach known as Makena Cove. The pictures are spectacular online. What you should know about Makena Cove…… those pictures were captured by professional photographers that know how to take pictures without the onlookers showing in the background. It is a rare and special occasion to have Makena Cove (aka Secret Cove) all to ourselves. We do watch the trends to give our clients the best possible opportunity for privacy on this beach; however, as brides and grooms you should know that at times there can be up to 6 weddings on this small patch of sand. You need to be prepared that this can happen, and does frequently.

Beach Wedding Packages Hawaii

One of my favorite wedding beaches is White Rock Beach. Some might not think of it as a favorite wedding beach, but here’s 5 reasons why I do…

1. There’s plenty of space so if there are beach goers on the beach, we can get away from them.

2. There’s beautiful background scenery – lava rocks, tropical trees… Your photographer is in heaven working with you here

3. It’s often not the first idea for wedding planners which is great for those that do use it.

4. Parking is easy

5. A restroom option was added this past year.

If you’re planning to DIY (Do It Yourself) instead of a beach wedding packages Hawaii, you might consider talking with us first. We’re affordable and give you the real information you need when planning your wedding. If you still want to go-it-alone, remember that we do offer Day Of Coordination as a simple beach wedding package Hawaii to alleviate all your worries before/on that special day. We have the local connections with talented vendors to make your day truly unforgettable. Trust me, you DO NOT want to be the one scrambling when you should be the one being pampered.

Beach wedding packages Hawaii can be affordable and absolutely magical… Aloha Maui Dream Weddings has the talent, the experience and the connections to pull it all together for you within your budget. Be wary of cheap imitations… as one of our clients best put it,

“We had a dream and Darci and Penny effortlessly brought it into reality. Darci created the stage…Penny captured it all behind her lens, and presented us with the photos the next day! Some may try to imitate, but never duplicate their skills. Mahalo e ke aloha nui loa!!”

2014 Maui Weddings – Trends

It’s true! With the help of Google, Brides and Grooms are much more aware this year than in any previous years… 2014 Maui Weddings are skyrocketing – with the main difference being that these destination weddings are no longer site unseen. Brides and Grooms of 2014 Maui Weddings have a very good idea of what they envision and they want to work with Maui wedding planners that actually CARE about THEIR special day.  We are proud that our clients ask us into their ohanas!

“Yayyy! Stress gone. Thanks Darci. I sure loved working with you all. Next vacation we’ll hunt you down and make you take a break for dinner!”
– D. H., May 2014

my wedding in mauiThat may sound like an obvious statement – to care about their special day. But the number one compliment we receive over and over is how they appreciate our clear communication, our dedication to making their special Maui Weddings perfect, and how much we CARE! Mahalo for those compliments – they’re true – we really care about each and every client. They now ask, “I want a planner for my wedding in Maui – who will care the most about my ceremony?”

“We are over the moon. The whole experience just surpassed our expectations. Thank you!”
– J & D, May 2014

You should really like your wedding planner and you shouldn’t be paying a fortune for your planner to coordinate everything. If you want to tip your wedding planner after the fact, that’s always appreciated and in our opinion should be earned. We are grateful to be here for you.

So what all is trending this year for 2014 Maui Weddings?

The colors blue and orange…

Maui Weddings FlowersSo maybe not paired together, but blue is definitely  a hot color this year. Adding blue ribbons to leis, blue flowers in bouquets or touches of blue in the petal paths is really beautiful against the golden sand and the teal blue ocean. We’ve done a couple black and teal weddings so far this year and the contrast was gorgeous! Of course you’ll want a morning wedding if you incorporate black into your color scheme.

Orange paired with corals, yellows and bright pinks make a dramatic statement and really sets a beautiful framework for the coupe’s faces and pictures. They compliment a Maui beach wedding very nicely!

Research…

Brides and grooms are getting to know more about their destination wedding team, the options available and Maui in general. Couples are researching and using Google images to help them be more informed.  We offer tips for planning your wedding in hopes that you will find them useful and want to book with us. Enjoy those tips here.

We really enjoy helping you coordinate every detail of your special trip – from bachelor and bachlorette parties to spa days to amazing ceremonies and memorable receptions. We specialize in Wedding groups of 100 or less and work with another amazing wedding planner that specializes in weddings over 100 people. We have you covered.

Trains are back!

Maui weddings trainsYes, you read correctly – trains are back in style for Maui Weddings!

The sweeping of the fabric across the sand adds elegance to a very classy moment. Pictures with the train sweeping the lava rock adds an unfounded dimension to your Maui wedding photography as well.

Call us with your questions and see how easy it is to have a perfect Maui Wedding!
